A vest from Zimmerman - Saturday May 18, 2024 (11.00-17.00)

Elisabeth Zimmerman, who doesn't already know her? Zimmerman is a great innovator who published her groundbreaking work in the 1980s. She developed a percentage system, which allowed you to knit a pattern of a vest with only a very small number of sizes, which is very clever.

Her work is very interesting for knitters of today to study. What Zimmerman came up with back then can be made very well contemporary with some minor modifications and continues to surprise.

One problem with her work is that it is so poorly accessible to European knitters. Her books are hard to come by and at high import fees.

Yogo van Gorp has been studying Zimmerman's work for several years and has knit 12 of her pieces. In May, she will be in the Netherlands for a few weeks, giving us the opportunity to be able to schedule a once-in-a-lifetime day with her.

On this day, Yogo will share with us

• the insights, theories and construction of Elisabeth Zimmerman's patterns
• examples of ready-made pieces knitted by her according to Zimmerman's patterns (you can try them on)
• The percentage system and how to apply it to your own measurements
• Knit a mini-vest according to Zimmerman's pattern so you know how her constructions are put together.
